The Jackson Fire Fighting Game is set in the Mythical State of Jackson. Jackson runs from the sea to the Nevada border about 200 miles west to east and, from 125 miles south of the Oregon/California border to 125 north of it. Jackson is about 50,000 square miles or 32 million acres, a third the size of present day California.
Statistics are hard to come by, but a rough estimate is that an average of 400,000 acres have burned each year, about 1.25% of the total area, since the turn of the century. The carbon released for an acre burned is about 100 tons, about the same as 4 trips from DC to Davos. The retail value of a single acre of lumber in the area is somewhere in the neighborhood of $5 Million. Though admittedly, there is wide variation of both numbers based upon circumstances, it seems a better path might be available than the one currently tread.
